Macon County tops for cash rent

Macon County has the most expensive average cash rent in Illinois, according to a survey by the Illinois Ag Statistics Service. In 2009, the average cash rent for farmland near Decatur was $237 per acre.
The other counties rounding out the top five included: Logan, $232; Sangamon, $223; Piatt, $218; and Bureau, $210.
Overall, eight counties in Illinois had average cash rents above $200 per acre. The statewide average for Illinois was $163 per acre.
