Landmeier lands Shabbona Open prize
Duane Landmeier won $200 for catching the largest muskie of the day—a 34.25 incher—in the Shabbona Muskie Open.
Landmeier and his partner were trolling in 12 feet of water 10 feet down while going 3.6 miles per hour with 48 feet of line out when the muskie hit Landmeier’s windells muskie snack.
First prize was $100 from Shabbona Lakeside, and Landmeier earned and extra $100 from Cabelas for donating $5 in the walleye stocking fund jar.
The event had 57 anglers who caught four muskie—Landmeier’s 34.25 incher, a 29.50 incher, a 33.00 incher and a 35.00 incher that didn’t count because it was caught by a Shabbona Lakeside worker.
