Lake Shelbyville’s Wilborn Creek to close
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the Wilborn Creek Recreation Area at Lake Shelbyville will be closed starting Monday, September 21, 2009 to remove and replace facilities within that recreation area. Facilities that will be removed and replaced include the boat ramp restroom, fish cleaning station, and beach shower house.
All parking lots within the recreation area will be resurfaced and an automated fee collection machine will be installed. The Wilborn Creek Recreation Area is planned to reopen this November. At that time the boat ramp will be the only facility open. After construction the restroom, fish cleaning station, and beach shower house will be winterized. The restroom and fish cleaning station will not open until April 2010 and the beach shower house will not open until the beach does in May 2010.
During construction Wilborn Creek Recreation Area will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. If someone is caught within a construction area they will be escorted out of the area and could receive a citation and have to pay a $100 fine.
