Ind. puts lake depth info online for anglers
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana fishing enthusiasts now have an online tool to help them find the best fishing spots in nearly 30 of the state’s lakes.
The state Department of Natural Resources has posted online new lake depth maps for 27 lakes that show drop-offs, lake bottom contours and other depth information that can lead anglers to promising fishing spots.
DNR fisheries chief Bill James says the maps of the lakes in eight northern Indiana counties and one southern Indiana county offer a free, lake-wide view of underwater features to help anglers find fish.
The maps will also be helpful for property owners, boaters, swimmers and others who want to know where the water is deep or shallow to avoid hazards.
