Illinois CPOs arrested 32 boaters last weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois conservation police say they arrested 32 boaters for operating under the influence over the Fourth of July weekend.
Department of Natural Resources officers also made six arrests for driving under the influence and 13 other arrests for drug offenses.
Officers investigated nine boating accidents on Illinois waterways. Those included Saturday’s fatal boating accident on Lake Lou Yaeger near Litchfield.
Officers issued 564 arrest citations for violations of boat, park, fish and game, vehicle code and other offenses. They issued an additional 858 written warnings.
