Illinois couple dies in Arizona boating accident

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — Sheriff’s officials in western Arizona say they have recovered the bodies of an Illinois couple who were thrown from a boat on Lake Havasu.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter says the bodies of Michael and Brenda Bedeker, both 45, from Ottawa, Ill., were recovered about 200 yards offshore Sunday morning.
Authorities had been searching the lake since Friday. Carter says witnesses saw the boat make an erratic turn just before it rolled four or five times.
The Bedekers and another couple on board went overboard. The other couple from Illinois was rescued and suffered just minor injuries.
Carter tells the Today’s News-Herald investigators are looking at a malfunction on the boat as the possible cause of the crash.
