Hunting geese with Jeff Norris
Jeff Norris knows goose hunting.
So says Steve Sarley of the Northwest Herald. Sarley recently spent a morning hunting with Norris, 52, who has been guiding goose hunters in Kane County since 1994 under the name of Jeff Norris’ Fox Valley Guide Service.
“I’ve quit jobs because of having to go goose hunting,” Norris told Sarley. “I figured that if I didn’t try to make money off of goose hunting, I’d either starve to death or just live under a bridge eating goose meat.”
Writes Sarley:
We headed to the land that Norris works. He uses more than 900 acres. The land holds five submerged goose pits and plenty of other areas for productive shooting. Having had limited success hunting from a pit the previous day, Norris asked me whether I’d mind shooting from a layout blind. I obliged.
Norris’ available hunting property lessens any chances for a bad day in the field. He is able to gauge the next day’s activity by weather and wind direction and then put clients into the best spot.
