Fox, Landmeier win Lake Shelbyville Muskie Tournament
The two-man muskie-angling team of Victor Fox of Waterman and Duane Landmeier of Hinckley caught the only muskies of the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Tournament on May 19, making them the easy winners.
High skies and high air temperatures made for a tough bite. But Fox and Landmeier trolled 9 inch Drifter Tackle crank baits in the standing timber to trigger the fish to bite. Both fish hit the bait after it had made contact with a submerged standing timber tree.
The two anglers started the day casting but changed their tactics to trolling. Their reward was a 38 inch muskie Fox landed. An hour later Landmeier scored on a 34.75 inch muskie to seal the deal. These were the only fish caught for the day.
