Duck, goose calling contests ahead

Top duck and goose callers from across the country will visit Bartonville this weekend for the start of Presley’s Outdoors annual waterfowl sale.

Duck-calling contests start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for juniors and intermediates (age 13-16). Junior and intermediate goose callers compete at 10, the two-man duck contest is at 1 p.m. and 25-30 are expected for the open meat duck event at 3.

The elite gather Sunday for Canada goose calling contests. Novices blow at 10 a.m., two-man is at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. marks the start of the open event, ranked third best in the U.S. by callingducks.com. “We could very possibly have six of the top seven callers in the country,” Adam Jaegle said.
