Down the home stretch, Illinois archery deer totals behind last year

With two weeks to go, Illinois archery deer hunters have killed 56,904 deer compared to 59,176 taken during the same time period last year.
Illinois Forest Wildlife Program Manager Paul Shelton released the latest figures Monday morning.
The top five counties to date are Pike (2,679), Fulton (1,918), Jefferson (1,312), Adams (1,283), and Peoria (1,110).
Sex ratios to date are 49.5 percent female and 50.5 percent males.
Harvest during the past three weeks has been greater than 60 percent female.
One additional weekend of firearm hunting remains in select counties, with the late-winter antlerless-only season and the concurrent Special CWD deer season to be held Jan. 18-20.
