Deer killed after attacking Colorado woman

FLORISSANT, Colo. (AP) - Colorado wildlife officers have killed a deer that gored a woman who officers say was trying to pet it.

Authorities say 63-year-old Joan Nutt was attacked by the deer Monday while visiting her sister in Florissant, about 100 miles southwest of Denver. Nutt was treated at the hospital for cuts from the deer’s antlers and hooves.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife says the deer knocked Nutt down when she went out in the yard and called to it. The buck also approached medical personnel and a wildlife officer.

State wildlife officer Aaron Flohrs says there’s no evidence that Nutt was trying to feed the deer, but its behavior indicates someone had been trying to treat it like a pet.
