JENA, La. (AP) — A 33-year-old man from Independence has died after an accidental shooting at a deer hunting camp in LaSalle Parish.
Sheriff Scott Franklin says Morris J. Laiche, III, was pronounced dead Christmas Eve. Authorities say emergency services were called to the Wild West Hunting Club in the Belah community, south of Jena, at about 8:30 a.m. Monday. Details of the shooting were not provided.
The parish coroner’s office pronounced Laiche dead at the scene.
Franklin says foul play is not suspected in Laiche’s death, and the incident remains under investigation.
