Central Illinois biologist to hold book signing

Thomas Lerczak will sign his new book Side Channels: a Collection of Nature Writing and Memoir, at 7 p.m. July 20 at the Adams Wildlife Sanctuary, 2315 Clear Lake Ave. in Springfield.

Lerczak, a field biologist with the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, focuses his writing on the Midwest.

Topics covered include birds, birding, natural areas, and rivers, especially the Illinois River.

Extensive field notes and journal entries supplement Lerczak’s writing.

Lerczak also will read selected passages and discuss publishing options for those interested in seeing their own work in print.

Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
