32 Booners displayed at Classic
As expected, the highlights of this year’s buck display at the Illinois Deer & Turkey Classic were non-typical racks.
And there was definitely impressive quality among this year’s 505 contest entries, including 17 non-typicals and 15 typicals that qualified for the Boone and Crockett Club’s record books.
We counted 15 bucks over 200 inches and the biggest of all was Chris Kiernan’s 268 1/8-inch 37-pointer from Kendall County (at right), which won archery Best of Show honors. Click here to see a complete rundown of non-typical Boone and Crockett Club qualifiers.
Next best was Cory Clendenen’s 238-inch 23-point Greene County gun kill (below).
Beyond those were Nate Campbell’s 228 5/8-inch 26-pointer from McDonough County and Greg Wilson’s 222 5/8-inch 21-pointer from Montgomery County.
Heath Kinder topped the muzzleloader non-typical charts with his 2009 Marion County buck that scored 209 4/8 inches.
Best of Show on the typical side of things went as follows:
Firearms—Joseph Kocher, Jasper, 2009, 181 4/8
Archery—Robert Kizer, Cass, 2007, 180 2/8
Black powder—Scott Hill, JoDaviess, 166 0/8
