Bass anglers will have two opportunities to fish for a good cause again this year.
The ninth Illinois Air National Guard Family Support Bass Tournament will be held June 24 at Lake Springfield and the third installment on Lake Jacksonville will be held Aug. 26..
Steve Parker, a master sergeant with the Illinois Air National Guard, organizes local bass tournaments and is the driving force behind the benefit tournaments to assist Guard families.
Competitors meet at 5:30 a.m. before the 6 a.m. take-off from Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp.
Hours for both tournaments are 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
The entry fee is $130 per team.
$25 of each entry fee goes to the Family Readiness and Support Group.
The group was formed to provide help, training and assistance to family of National Guard troops, and to help with issues that arise during deployment.
Tournaments raise about $1,000 each.
