87 percent of Illinois corn planted

Illinois farmers continue to plant on a record pace this year, with the latest tally showing 87 percent of the state’s corn crop is in the ground.
That’s well above last year’s 5 percent figure for this date and is also well above the five-year average of 47 percent. Corn emergence is also ahead of pace, with 39 percent emerged compared to the five-year average of 15 percent.
Soybeans are 11 percent planted compared to the five-year average of 4 percent.
