Bob Anderson, 29, of Chicago shot his first turkey. Anderson said he had been hunting them for the past 10 years before killing his first, on April 16, 2012, in JoDaviss County. The bird weighed 20 pounds and had an 8-inch beard.
Bowhunter David Dauphin shot this video of a 10-point buck on Nov. 9, 2008 near Savanna. “I had just grunted at a buck I had seen and seconds later this 10-pointer came running and stopped 8 feet from the base of my stand,” Dauphin said. “I let him go hoping that next year he would be that big guy I am looking for,” Dauphin said. The buck was seen by two other hunters the next morning and evening.
A pair of Illinois men and a gun rights group have sued the state to try to force it to allow concealed weapons.
