Whitetail Unlimited Banquet

January 28, 2009 at 12:05 PM

Whitetail Unlimited will be having a banquet in Bloomington on February 28 at the Double Tree Inn and Conference Center, 10 Brickyard Dr., Bloomington with the doors opening at 5:00 p.m. and prime rib dinner served at 7:00 p.m.

The theme this year is “Illinois Deer Camp”. If you haven’t been to a WU banquet, I’m here to tell you it’s a great time! In fact, I try to make every banquet in Central IL. They serve beverages at 5:00 to give you some time to socialize before the events begin. They have a ton of door prizes, auctions, raffles, etc. In the last 2 years, I’ve won several guns, hunting gear, etc. I bring the family and they have a ball also.

These banquets usually sell out fast as space is limited, so you may want to inquire about tickets now. You can also be a table captain by buying 10 tickets which will put you in a special drawing for the WTU IL. Gun of the Year. If you are a business person, you can donate merchandise which will qualify you to receive a raffle package worth a ton of raffle tickets, etc. I donate a whitetail head-mount worth $650.00 (the service only, you supply the head) at each of the banquets and sometimes a scouting package. I always bring a mounted head so you can see the quality before you bid on the merchandise. I also donate other stuff to be auctioned off as WU will benefit from all of the proceeds. As of now, I’m not sure if I’ll be at this banquet because the IL. Deer Classic happens to run on the same day and I’ll be in the PSO booth, but the times only overlap a couple of hours.

To obtain tickets or more information, you can go to or call 1-800-274-5471 or just call Darel Martin (he’s here locally and the field director for WU) at 309-389-4988. Remember, it’s a great cause and it’s a ton of fun!
