Marc Anthony of Goodfield owns and operates Look Alive Taxidermy and Non Typical Hunter magazine. Anthony grew up in central Illinois and spent eight years as a commercial pilot before giving that up to spend more time with his wife Jan and three children, Victoria, Drake and Elesa. Anthony hunted on and off as a child but started seriously at age 30 and focuses on bowhunting for deer and turkeys. He's arrowed four bucks that meet the Boone and Crockett Club (net) standards and 20 Pope and Young Club qualifiers. Anthony is on the Pro Staff for Muzzy broadheads, Bear Archery, Vital Gear, Natural Predator, Non Typical Hunter and several other companies. He also is a member of the Outdoor writers Association of America, OWAA.

They’re Getting Bigger!

Just a little more to go and the velvet will be coming off

As the heat stays in place, so do the deer! No, they don’t like to move much when it’s hot but they do move. Nevertheless, here’s some more pictures coming from one of my trail cams and some from John Currie. It won’t be long until the velvet comes off, so they they only have a short time left to finish growing.

For some reason I think this is going to be a banner year. Despite the controversy regarding last year’s standing corn, I do think some of the bigger bucks were harboring themselves in it thus avoiding death. If that’s true, we should see some real monsters this year! I’ve got one really nice stud of an 8 pointer here on one camera but the best pictures yet were destroyed! One of my SD cards went corrupt as soon as I plugged it into my computer and ate every one of the pictures. One of those was an absolute monster that was already in the B&C club! Of course, it would be THAT SD card that burnt! My luck!!!
