Anytime a photographer can watch wildlife go about the business of making a living undisturbed - it has to be considered a successful outing.

The bald eagle nest at the Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge near Havana was photographed from the levee through the window of the car.

This is a point that’s been made before, but it’s worth repeating. And bald eagles enjoy special protection that makes it illegal to harass them.

Take some great pictures, and leave things as you found them.

One note: Since Lake Chautauqua is a wildlife refuge, the levee drive only is open a few times per year.
