Hooded mergansers

March 09, 2013 at 11:20 PM

Hooded mergansers are just so darned cute.

True, they won’t show up on any hunter’s list of most favored ducks to take during hunting season.

But the small birds, with brilliant white crests are wonderful targets for bird watching and photography during spring migration.

Spring is when all the ducks are tricked out in their breeding plumage - and look their best for photographs.

These birds were photographed at The Nature Conservancy’s Emiquon Preserve in Fulton County.
