With the deadline fast-approaching for lawmakers to enact a concealed-carry law, new legislation surfaced Wednesday that allows local law enforcement to object to permit applications while creating a licensing review board that has final say.

The Rend Lake fishing report has been pretty stable for the last three weeks or so. Fishing remains excellent for crappie and catfish. Largemouth bass, bluegill and white bass are rated good.
