After effectively losing several hunting days to bad weather, deer hunters fell just short of a record harvest during the 2007-08 season. Though numbers are preliminary, totals released by the Department of Natural Resources indicate Prairie State deer hunters bagged 198,544 whitetails: up slightly from last year but behind the 2005-06 record of 202,492.
