Wyatt Nitzsche, 5, and his grandfather, Bob Gordon, caught these crappie weighing 1 pound, 5 ounces and 2 pounds, 4 ounces out of a lake near Washington in mid-September. Crappie fishing has improved dramatically in much of Illinois with recent cooler temperatures.
