TJ Pittman’s 13-pointer

November 29, 2010

Illinois hunting and fishing

Trophy Tidbits

Scorable Points: 13

Kill Date: 11/13/2010

County: Madison

Season: Bow

It was raining real hard all night and the afternoon before I passed up a spot where there were rubs and scrapes everywhere. So I slipped in a lock on that i have about 50 yards from those rubs and scrapes with a perfect south east wind that next morning.

At first light I had a nice 8 pointer come from those rubs and scrapes. Just like I expected, he was reshining them up. That rain had let up just about time I got to the farm. I let him walk right under me; he just wasn’t big enough. About 30 minutes later I looked over my left shoulder, and there was the big buck making a scrape about 50 yards away. He followed the top of the ridge right to me and then turned and went down it about 20 yards from me. I stopped him and made a killer heart shot with the muzzy mx4. He made it about 35 yards, then piled up.

This is the biggest deer that I’ve killed with my bow. He scored 158 5/8 with 13 points. He’s got a big point broke off just past his G2 on his right side. He also has a split browtine on his right side that gives him 8 points on that right side. On his left side, his browtine is broke off and I believe it was a split just like the right. Hes an awesome buck.
