EDITOR’S NOTE: Here in the words of bowhunter Randy Heinz is the story of his hunt for a 14-point Fulton County buck.

I started the day off heading to the tree stand at 12:30 p.m. Climbed up around 20 feet high with my climber, got situated and it wasn’t long before I started seeing a few does grazing around looking for acorns.

The does eventually disappeared in the thickets about 80 yards in front of my stand. Then around 4:15 p.m. they came running out of the thicket and I harvested the biggest of the does. She ran towards the thicket and I re-arrowed.

I looked down and there was a massive 8-pointer just looking right at me. He backed up and slowly walked to where the doe expired. I tried to get him to come out with my Mad calls and Estrus bleat can for 15 minutes.

The next thing I knew, this MONSTER came out from behind me to the right of me. He gave me a 15-yard shot broadside and then he ran for 20 yards before falling over dead. It was a perfect heart shot.

I was so excited and thanked God for such a great hunt.
