Mike Howie’s 10-pointer
Trophy Tidbits
Scorable Points: 10
Kill Date: Oct. 7, 2009
County: Vermilion
Season: Bow
EDITOR’S NOTE: Here in the words of bowhunter Mike Howie of Potomac is his hunt for a big 8-point buck.
My hard work all spring and summer planting and maintaing food plots paid off early and in a big way. I caught this guy feeding in a small, secluded late-maturing soybean plot.
He was the sixth deer in to eat that night and the only one with antlers. After watching him feed for what seemed like, well forever, he finally made it over for a nice 20-yard shot.
He’s a basic 8-pointer with forks on both of his G2s. He dressed out at 205 pounds and grossed 150 5/8 inches green.
I shot him out of the same stand as my 157-inch, bow kill 8-pointer from last year (pictured below). I think I might have a new favorite stand now!
