Season: Bow

Starting on Nov 1, I had already had over 80 hours on stand with many encounters with 140-175 class bucks. The first couple of days I was seeing these deer but having bad luck getting in range of them. After moving some stands around and getting a little aggressive, I decided to set up a trail cam on a mock scrape I made the last week of October and was getting plenty of pics of some very nice bucks.

On Nov 7, I decided I would check my camera to see if I had any daylight photos of a decent buck. As I was looking through the pics I noticed a buck I call the G-2 buck. He came to the scrape at 12:15 am-12:20 am I had three pics of this deer working the mock scrape I had made. On the Afternoon of Nov 11, I decided I was going to hunt the edge of a corn field, where the does have been coming to feed almost every night. I arrived to my stand around 1:30. As I approached my stand, the field was full of turkeys, so I waited for them to clear the field before I eased my way to my stand.

Around 3:00 pm, the first few deer started into the field as I watched some does and small bucks and listened to another buck chasing a doe in the draw behind me for over an hour. Three does busted out of the timber into the corn field as I watched them. Looking back I noticed movement 25 yards from my stand. The closer I looked it was the G-2 Buck now at 20 yards. He turned to walk away and I made a easy 25-yard shot right behind the rib, exiting on the opposite shoulder. After only going 60 yards, I had my G-2 buck. Don’t give up cause you don’t know this time of year what will step out.

Good luck to my fellow hunters
