Jeff Clampitt of Augusta shot this buck in Hancock County on Nov. 3, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. The buck was making scrapes and rubs as he passed by at 20 yards. After Clampitt shot, the buck ran about 100 yards and piled up. Clampitt was hunting with a Matthews Q2 bow and 2215 Easton Aluminum arrow with a 4 bladed muzzy broadhead.
The deer is an 8-pointer with one small sticker point off its base. The buck field dressed at about 225 pounds. The longest G2 point was 10.5 inches and the inside spread was 16 inches.
Clampitt said he has been bowhunting for about 15 years and this was his best buck to date.
He also shot video of the buck approaching, before setting down the camera and making his shot.
