Non-typical Hunter

A Web log by Marc Anthony

Tuesday’s featured whitetail

September 29, 2008 at 09:42 PM

Since Wed. is opening day for deer and turkey season, I thought these pictures would get you all fired up! This is the world famous Goliath. He was the largest non typical whitetail on record up until he died several years ago. Goliath was never killed by a hunter as he was pen raised in Pennsylvania and died from a disease. His final score was around 430” gross and about 410” net. That’s 410” NET!!!

That exceeds the largest non typical ever killed by a hunter by over 100 inches! What a monster! How would you like to see that beast in the woods coming to your stand?

Funny thing, I had this mount at the IL. Deer and Turkey Classic earlier this year in our booth and you wouldn’t believe how many people asked me where I shot him. I just smiled and said “Pekin”, and they would say “really”? After a brief laugh, I told them the real story on this ole’ boy.

I mounted him on the largest form I could find and his rack still dwarfs his neck. Hopefully, someone from IL. will be fortunate enough to hammer something as impressive as Goliath this year! Good luck to all, I wish you the very best this season! Photos courtesy of Look Alive Taxidermy.

Monday’s featured 2007 whitetail

September 28, 2008 at 10:03 PM

Today’s feature comes from a buck I got last year. It is a wide main frame 10 pointer with plenty of mass and a unique low profile. It grossed at 180 typical and netted in the 175 range. I certainly hope to see a buck like this hanging around my area this year! Photos courtesy of Look Alive Taxidermy.

Sunday’s featured 2007 whitetail

Today’s daily monster comes from Gino DeFeudis, of Mass. who popped this 160 class Iowa giant last year in 2007. Tall tines add many inches to this huge Pope and Young buck. Great job Gino! Just three days left until the opener, are you ready? Photos courtesy of Look Alive Taxidermy.
